Can Firestone Air Bags be Installed on a 1999 Ford F-350 with B&W Gooseneck Trailer Hitch

Question:

Hi I have a 1999 Ford f350 dually with 7.3 liter diesel. I have installed a bandw 1108 turn over gooseneck hitch. I love the the set up I can tow my 5th wheel camper and also tow a gooseneck equipment trailer. I am thinking about installing a air helper spring system. My truck is the Ford f350 laraite dually and I was thinking about using ride rite f2550, will this work or not? Please let me know if it wont and your suggestions. Thank you

Yes, you can use Firestone air bag helper springs # F2550 on your 1999 Ford F-350 diesel with the B&W gooseneck hitch installed. The upper brackets for the air bags mount on the inboard side of the frame rails opposite the brackets for the gooseneck hitch so they will not interfere with each other. The gooseneck brackets also have a hole in them that will allow the mounting bolt for the spring upper brackets to fit through. I have linked a video showing an example installation of F2550 for you.

If you want to be able to add or remove air from the air bags from the comfort of the truck cab I also recommend Air Command kit # F2158. It will add a compressor and gauge display/control so you won't have to have an external air compressor.

Hello, Amazing enough I just added the B&W gooseneck 1108 set up to my 1999 Dually f350. Same exact setup as above! I had the same question so thank you. I also have more of an in depth question and that is… what rear airbags would you recommend for me? The same…f2550? Or something different? I typically carry an 11.5’, 5000lb camper while trailering a 4000 lb boat, or a lighter trailer with quads/motorcycles. I will also use the gooseneck to pull a trailer big enough for a 16,000+ lb backhoe. I also do not need the onboard compressor for my comfort ;) Thanks ahead of time for your opinion. Dan M

@Dan Hey Dan, yeah I'd still go with the Firestone Ride-Rite # F2550. These bags are designed to work with heavy loads which is what it sounds like you're working with. These bags will also work with a Gooseneck, so you don't have to worry about anything there either.
