Solution for Curt X5 Adapter that Doesn't Want to Fully Seat with Spray In Bed Liner
Question:
I just received my new X5. Wrestled it up and into the bed of my truck and when I released the pin on my hitch, it didnt go in. Perplexed I tried again and nope it still didnt slide in. I could hear it tapping the shaft. It didnt line up. I then pulled the installation instructions out which I didnt think I needed as it seemed so straight forward and simple. And realized that at the bottom of the page it stated that bed liners could cause the x5 to not fit. I am wondering if this is my problem and what you suggest. My 2014 Ford F-350 SRW Platinum edition had a factory installed bandw flip over goose neck and factory sprayed bed liner. My problem is that most of the pictures I have seen of peoples x5 after installation look exactly like mine bed liner and all. So do you have any suggestions???

Your spray in bed liner would not be the issue in most cases but we do have a solution that we have found works in your situation. We had a customer come back and state that the first time he went to use the # 16310 on his truck with a spray in bed liner he had the same issue with the pin not seating.
He went ahead and hitched up the trailer and that pressure was enough to get the pin to seat fully. After that he never had that problem again. Most likely the bed liner just need to compress a bit for it to work.
