Bolt Won't Thread in to Install a Trailer Hitch
Question:
I have installed this product and unfortunately I am unable to thread the 3rd bolt on the left furthest from the bumper. I have read several reviews of folks having the same issue. Do you have any recommendations? I am currently only using the hitch for a bike rack so I left it as is but am curious if towing something with only 5 bolts would be an issue. Please advise. Thanks!

You definitely want all of the hardware installed for hitch # C13272 or any hitch because how it attaches is part of how it gets its rating. It sounds like the problem you are having is a factory weld nut that is packed with grime and corrosion. Giving it a good, thorough cleaning with a wire brush and some PB Blaster will help.
You will apply a good amount of the spray into the weld nut in question and let it soak for a good 15 minutes. Then go at it with a wire brush. Repeat as often as needed until you can thread the bolt in. For a brush you can use # 814092.
I have also included a help article and video on cleaning weld nuts for you.
