Question:
The connection at my truck has 5 wires going into the connector but only 4 connectors on the plug. I am assuming that this is for individual wires for each side for running lights, Help?

You are correct. A 4-way harness that has 5 wires going into it generally uses two of them for the running lights. This prevents the need for a jumper wire from one taillight to the other. If you're replacing the 4-way you will want to test each wire with a circuit tester, like #PTW2993, to make sure you have the two wires that are both running lights on the same circuit. They're usually ran into the pin closest to the ground, but testing is the only way to be sure.
