Difference In Pintle and Regular Mount, and Availablity of Pintle Mount For 2011 Ford F-350

What is the differance between a pintle hitch and a regular hitch. I am hauling a 12000# boat and cant seem to find a hitch to fit my truck.F350 with a 2 1/2 reciever.

A pintle hitch ball is designed to be used with trailers that use Lunette Rings, a regular or conventional hitch ball is designed to be used with trailers that have couplers. You would typically find trailers with Lunette Rings on industrial or construction type trailers.

For a pintle towing setup, you will need a pintle draw bar, pintle ball, pin and clip, wiring, and brake controller.

For a draw bar, I would recommend Titan Forged Pintle Hook Mounting Plate, part # RP45294, which will fit your 2-1/2 Inch Receiver Hitch on your 2011 Ford F-350.

For a pintle ball, I would recommend Pintle Hook Combo with 2-5/16" Ball, part # C48200.

You will also need Pin and Clip, part # PC3, or for added security of your draw bar we also offer a Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, part # C23519.

For wiring, if your vehicle did not have a 4-way connector you will need to install 4-Pole Hardwire Kit Including Circuit Tester, part # 18252. For a 7-way connector you will need to install Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole, part # 37185.

For a brake controller, I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Proportional Brake Controller # 90885 and the # 3034-P wiring harness specific to your Super Duty. It installs by just plugging in brake controller adapter into back of brake controller and vehicle port.
