Compatibility of Yakima Skybox 21 Roof Cargo Box Y07337 with Thule WingBar Evo Roof Rack

Question:

I have a Yakima Skybox 21 Carbonite Part # 07337. I was looking to get a rack for my wifes 2013 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Lux. Will the Yakima fit the Thule WingBar Evo? Part Numbers: TH711520,TH710501,TH145116

The Yakima SkyBox 21 Black Carbonite Rooftop Cargo Box # Y07337 does indeed mount on aero-style roof rack crossbars like the ultra-quiet Thule WingBar Evo bars # TH711520. It will in fact fit any crossbar that does not exceed the dimensions 3-1/2 x 1-11/16-inches and that are spaced apart (bar center to bar center) between 24- and 42-inches.

This black bar set, along with the Evo Clamp Feet # TH710501 and the vehicle-specific Fit Kit # TH145116 make up the Thule WingBar Evo rack system that fits the 2013 Land Rover Range Rover Sport that has a bare roof with no type of hardware on it. I have linked an installation video for this Thule rack to help guide your install.

Often users of rooftop cargo carriers also choose an item like the Telesteps step # TE97FR to make life easier when you're loading and unloading your cargo. This inexpensive and lightweight folding aluminum step gives you a foot of additional reach when working with your cargo box and it stores easily. Another handy accessory is the Access Motion Activated LED Light Strip # A90392. This 18-inch battery-powered light strip is flexible, waterproof and features peel-and-stick installation.

Since your Yakima SkyBox 21 weighs just a bit over 60-lbs (empty) you will want to keep track of the cargo weight you load into it. The combined weight of the box and its loaded cargo cannot exceed the weight capacity of the vehicle's roof.

My online research indicates the 2013 Range Rover Sport has a roof weight rating of 130-lbs total, provided that the load is evenly distributed across the two bars, but your owner's manual will let you confirm the capacity for your particular Range Rover Sport. In this case this means that after you account for the box's 62-lb weight you could potentially load as much as 68-lbs of cargo and still remain within the vehicle's capacity.
