Wiring Needed to Rewire a Trailer for Lights and Electric Brakes

Question:

I am looking to rewire a trailer with dual axle electric brakes. I plan to purchase harness with junction box 277-000141. I need wiring to go from the junction box out to supply needed power to side markers, brake, and running lights as well as the electric brake input from the truck. Do you sell a wishbone harness for this? I saw one A40W5B but the blue wire was listed as being only 5 feet? This is a 15 foot flat deck car trailer so id like 30 feet to be safe. Would W002290 work if I cut the connector off the end? Not sure if the blue wire in that harness is the correct gauge for the electric brakes in my application. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Both the # A40W5B and # W002290 have a blue wire that is only 5 feet long. Plus, the blue wire is only 18 gauge and 20 gauge, respectively. So these are not going to work for your application.

What you're going to want to use is Bonded 4 Wire # 16-4B-1 which is sold by the foot. This will provide the four 16 gauge wires to run from the junction box, part # 277-000141, to your trailer's lights.

Then for the brakes you will want a 10 gauge wire, # 10-1-1, which is also sold by the foot.

In addition, you may need 3/16 Inch Ring Terminals, # 44-5310A, 1/4 Inch Ring Terminals, # DW05702-1, 12-10 Gauge Butt Connectors, # 05732-2, and 16-14 Gauge Butt Connectors, # 05731-5.
