How to Find Weight Capacity on 2-1/4 x 3-Inch Boat Trailer Axle

hi im looking to find out what my axle is rated for the axle is 2 1/4 by 3in rectangle with 6 lugs on rims

Axles usually have a sticker or plate attached that indicates weight rating. Axle dimensions can provide a general clue about capacity but are not always a reliable way to determine exactly how much weight the axle can handle. As examples, a 2-3/8-inch diameter round axle is typically rated for 3500-lbs; a 3-inch round axle is usually rated for 6000- to 7200-lbs; and a 3-1/2-inch round axle will often be rated for 8K. Since your hubs are 6-lug types chances are that your axle is rated in the range of 5000- to 6000-lbs.

If there is no sticker on the axle itself then the trailer main identification sticker (where you should find its VIN) may have an axle rating indicated along with other capacity information.
