Recommended Roof Rack And Kayak Carrier For 2016 Chevrolet Equinox With Naked Roof

Question:

Looking for some advice on purchasing a roof rack system for my 2016 Equinox. The roof top is bare with no existing rack system and I want to purchase one that will carry 2 14foot kayaks. The weight will only be 110 lbs both units. Do you have something that will mount to the existing roof studs or do I have to purchase something with the clamps instead. Thanks

Since your 2016 Equinox has a bare roof, a roof rack with the clamps that attach to the door jambs are the only roof racks we have available.

The roof rack I recommend for your Equinox is the Rhino-Rack Vortex Roof Rack. This roof rack has 46-inch aerodynamic crossbars and does use clamps that attach to the door jambs. To order this rack you will need part # RRVA118B-2 part # RRRLKVA, and part # DK226.

For carrying your kayaks I recommend the Rhino-Rack J-Style Kayak Carrier, part # S512. This carries the kayak on its side and with the addition of the # RRS512X expansion arm you can carry two kayaks on your roof rack.

You will want to make sure you do not exceed the roof weight capacity for your Equinox when carrying anything on the roof rack.
