Question:
My 2016 SXL V6 AWD has the two plug connectors behind the driver side rear wheel. One appears to be direct from the battery as it is always hot - even when the vehicle is switched off and locked. I assume the other is the lighting circuit? Is this correct - that one plug is always supplying 12V power? If so, does this mean that when a trailer is attached the lights will always be on - even when parked? Or does the Curt trailer harness only allow the trailer lights to be illuminated when the car lights are on? Thanks

The Curt Trailer Wiring Harness part # C56332 that you referenced does fit your 2016 Kia Sorento and will only illuminate the trailer taillights when the appropriate circuit is activated on the vehicle.
The wire that has power all the time is the circuit the harness uses to power the lights but it does not run the power to the lights all the time. Only when needed.
I attached an install video for you to check out as well.
