Options for Going from a 6-Way to a 7-Way on a Tow Vehicle

I have a 2001 chevy suburban that seems to have a 6 way wiring harness. There is no plug receiver, yet. I need to hook up a horse trailer that has a 7 way plug. Is there anyway to change the car wiring to 7 way? I think the 7th wire on the trailer has to do with some inside lights, which arent critical, but I would like to be able to use them. If there is no way to change the vehicle wiring, what plug would I need to get to accommodate the 7way plug on the trailer, and how would I hook it up so that the proper functions are operational?

I attached a picture of what a 6-way normally looks like. Sometimes people get 6-ways and 7-ways confused if they don't count the center pin.

The simplest way to go from a 6-way to a 7-way is to use the adapter part # 47435. You would most likely want the mounting bracket part # 18138 as well.

If you prefer you can permanently wire a 7-way connector, using part # PK11898. This includes a wiring harness, 7-way connector, mounting bracket and required hardware.
