Why is Tongue Weight Rating Higher for Draw-Tite Hitch Receiver when not Using Weight Distribution

Question:

Just wondering why the tongue weight capacity on this receiver is higher without a WDH...thats the opposite of how it works on most receivers. Looking to upgrade the receiver on our 2003 Ford e350, and Im trying to choose between this one and another one. Tongue weight is the main concern our old receiver is rated 1000/10,000 with a WDH, and our new trailer is a toy hauler with a heavy hitch, so we want a little more room to play with there.

The Draw-Tite Ultra Frame # 41945 does have a lower tongue weight rating when used with a weight distribution system. You're correct that it's normally the other way around. I reached out to Draw-Tite for a specific reason but they couldn't provide me with one. The vague answer is basically that when tested there was something that made an impact to the hitch receiver's tongue weight capacity.
