The weight capacity of 24,000 pounds would be the most the trailer can weigh. So the gross weight capacity of gooseneck coupler # BWTEXA4200 is 24,000 pounds. The vertical load limit is the amount of weight pushing down on the ball. On a regular hitch it's called tongue weight. So as long as the trailer "tongue" weight is under 6,000 pounds it will be within the capacity of this coupler.
