Recommended Axle-Less System For 2000-Lb Off-Road Trailer

Question:

HI, you probably are getting very tired of this question. What are your recommendations for an axle-less off-road trailer suspension system that will match a 2006 Nissan Xterra off-road tire and rim. Currently using 265/75 r16 tires with 6 lug nuts. Max load will be an estimated 2k pounds or less depending on final design.

Since the trailer you are building is 2,000-lbs or less the axle-less system I recommend is part # ASR2KHDS09.

This is the Timbren system with a 4-inch drop and it is designed for off-road tires. It has a weight capacity of 2,000-lbs and has EZ Lube spindles that make it easy to grease the bearings without having to remove the hubs. This system has a 4-bolt brake flange.

If you do not plan on adding brakes I recommend part # AKIHUB-555-35-EZ-K idler hubs. This hub has a 5 on 4-1/2 wheel bolt pattern and includes the Bearings, races, seal, grease cap, and lug nuts. This also includes the EZ Lube grease cap so it is easier to grease the bearings.

If you plan on adding brakes the hub and drum assembly I recommend is part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K. This comes with the bearings, races, seal, grease cap, wheel bolts and lug nuts, and it has a 5 on 4-1/2 wheel bolt pattern.

The brakes I recommend are part # 23-27 for the right hand and part # 23-26 for the left.

I have attached a link to the wheel/tire combos we offer that have bias-ply tires and a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern.
