Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2006 Jeep Liberty

My husband has a friend that will give us a base plate off a Jeep CJ5. I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty . Will the CJ5 base plate fit my Jeep Liberty? We were given a tow bar, which is a Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain. Also, can you recommend anyone in our area that can install your base plate on my Jeep? We checked with Camping World, they want to charge us over a $1500.00 to purchase and install one. I see you have a base plate for $399.00. We would like to purchase it from you, but we dont know of anyone in our area that can install it for us. My husband is 72, he doesnt want to install it.

Unfortunately, the baseplates from your friend's CJ5 are likely not going to work. I can't say for certain since I don't know what they are but there are no base plates that we carry that will fit a CJ5 and your 2006 Jeep Liberty.

We also do not have a list of installers around the country so there isn't a specific location I can refer you to. All the necessary parts to set your Jeep up to flat tow can be installed by a common mechanic so you may want to look around at shops that might be able to help you. I can however, help you find the parts you need to flat tow the Liberty.

Since you already have the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain # RM-522 you can use the EZ4 # RM-521423-4 or EZ 5 # RM-521423-5 base plate kits. If you don't already have safety cables you can use # RM-643.

For the Jeep's lighting you can use the tail light kit # RM-155. This kit bypasses the Jeep's wiring so you don't have to splice into it.

For a supplemental braking system the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 is a favorite around here because of how reliable it is and it's easier to install than many other permanently installed systems. A brake light relay # RM-88400 is also necessary to keep the Jeep's brake signal from overriding the RV's turn signals.

Finally, you'll likely need a high-low adapter. I've attached an article to help you determine the correct rise or drop your setup requires. I've also linked our selection of adapters for you to look at once you know what you need.

In addition to my recommendations I've linked some articles on flat towing that you may find helpful.
