Adding Parking Brake To 2011 Earthbound Dakota Trailer

Question:

We own a 2011 Earthbound Dakota and are exporting the unit to Europe. I was told that I need to have a parking brake. On your website I found the product: K23-086-00 and K23-087-00. Unfortunately I am traveling and can not check out the trailer at this time. I was wondering if you could tell me if they would fit. I have a sicker with the information, Each Axle max weight 7000lb. There are 5 bolts for each wheel. Thank you very much.

The Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Assembly with Parking Brake - 10" - Left Hand - 3,500 lbs # K23-086-00 and the right side # K23-087-00 are a fit for your 2011 Earthbound Dakota. You will also want the Titan Breakaway and Parking Kit for Drum Brakes # T2385200. The maximum capacity you listed is for the combination of the axles not each axle based on what I see online as well as the 4 bolt mount on the axles and 5 bolt pattern you mention for the wheels.

For your 3500 lb axles, you will wan the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 3,500-lb Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 4-1/2 inch # AKHD-545-35-K. These hubs are not side specific like the brake assemblies.

Question:

thank you for your feedback, would you have a 2" coupler I could mount on my trailer? I read that the 2" might work with a 50mm ball.

For a 2 inch coupler, I recommend the A-Frame Trailer Coupler - Yoke Latch - Black - 2" Ball - Weld On - 8,000 lbs # CA-5210-B. This will work well with your trailer, but it will require a professional welder to install.

If you prefer a bolt on option, I recommend the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler w/ Jack Hole - eZ-Latch - Black - 2" Ball - Bolt On - 10K # DM14793-81. This coupler will allow you to install without any welding.

You may also be interested in a lock like # e98887 for your coupler.
