It sounds like you're looking to add an electric brake controller to your 2010 Dodge Dakota.
The brake controller I suggest is the Prodigy P3 # 90195. It's one of the most reliable controllers on the market as well as the easiest to use because of the LCD. If your Dakota has a factory 7-way trailer connector already on it then you'll have a connector under the dash that the harness # 3020-P connects to. This is all you'll need to power your trailer's brakes. I've linked this install on a 2008 Ram. It's the same process on your Dakota.
If you don't have a factory connector on your truck you'll need to add one. First, install a 4-way connector with # 118323. It plugs into the Dakota's wiring behind both tail lights. Then use our # ETBC7 kit to install a 7-way trailer connector and everything to operate the P3 brake controller. I've linked this install on a 2009 Dakota with the P3 and # ETBC7.
