Question:
Hello, I am in the process of purchasing a 2017 HR-V EX without the Navi and roof rails!. I have an old 2003 4-Bike Yakima carrier. Im getting a 2inch hitch installed. From reading your advice it looks like I shouldnt use this bike mount on my HR-V even with only one bike? I also am looking for a hitch mounted cargo box or tray. Is there any safe option? I want something I can take on and off easily to use once a week. For a small vending business mostly for light weight products like chips and cookies. Or I could go with a roof rack to use my roof mounted Yakima cargo case. But my hr-v doesnt have the factory roof rails since it is the EX. Any advice? Thanks!

I have great news; we have a 2" hitch receiver for your 2017 Honda HR-V that will allow you to use your Yakima bike rack to carry 4 bikes as long as the bikes and the carrier together is under 300 pounds and that should not be a problem at all. You need theEcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7322.
In terms of value the Curt # C18110 cargo carrier is a great choice. This is likely to be easier to use than a roof-mounted carrier that can be hard to reach.
