Recommendation for a Trailer Hitch that Bolts to Bumper Support on a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500
Question:
I have a 2009 Dodge ram 1500. It does not have a hitch, however, Im told it has a receiver that bolts to each side of the frame and hole to install a ball on the step bumper. I need a hitch for a distrubution system. If the 13333 doesnt work by bolting to the receiver and step bumper, what will?

You are correct, your 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 does have a bumper support at the back that attaches to each frame rail with a support in the center that rests under the step bumper so you can place a hitch ball. The Curt Trailer Hitch, # 13333, that you have referenced attaches to the bumper support and uses the ball hole as an attachment point also, so it is compatible with your truck. The hitch can be used with weight distribution.
I have included a link to the installation details for the hitch for reference. To complete your towing set up, the recommended ball mount is # 2753 with pin and clip # PC3. You can use hitch ball # 19260 (1-7/8 inch diameter), # 19247 (2 inch diameter), or # 63847 (2-5/16 inch diameter).
For trailer wiring, you would need Upgraded Circuit Protected Taillight Converter Hardwire Kit, # 119178KIT, if your truck does not have a tow package. With the tow package, you would use T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, # 118381, if needed.
