Installing Tekonsha PowerTrac Trailer Brake Controller on 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Hello! Im interested in purchasing the PowerTrac electronic brake controller for towing a pop-up tent camper. Could you please recommend a plug and play harness for a 2014 Jeep Wrangler JKU? Id rather not have to cut any OEM wiring.

I do have a solution for you, however there is not a plug-in adapter available for your 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited to install a trailer brake controller like the Tekonsha PowerTrac # 39523.

If your Jeep has a factory installed 7-way connector, then you will just need the Installation Kit # 5506 along with the pigtail harness # 20127. The black wire from the brake controller will go through the firewall and connect to the positive battery terminal using the included 30 amp circuit breaker. The white wire will connect to the negative battery terminal for ground.

The blue wire will then get routed through the firewall, under the Jeep, and back to the 7-way connector. You will connect it to the terminal in the 7 o'clock position. The red wire will connect to the cold side of the brake switch. You will attach the wire to the brake switch wire that only has power when the brake pedal is pressed. You can use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to find the correct wire.

If your Jeep does not have the factory 7-way but has a 4-way connector instead, you will need the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 instead of the 5506 kit mentioned above.

I have attached some helpful articles and the installation details for the trailer brake controller for you to check out.
