3.5K Axle Upgrade for Off-Road Trailer
Question:
Hello! Do you guys have an axle upgrade for 3500lbs for larger 5 on 5 tires? Similar to your 2000lbs axle kit. I would like to install 31x10.5 off road tires for trails that are off-road in addition, just a little more capacity. It's mainly used to haul my ATV and camping stuff. Thanks

To upgrade your axles to 3,500 lbs I recommend the Timbren Axle-Less Suspension System # ASR3500S06. This system has a 4 inch lift that will help to give you ground clearance when you go offroad.
The etrailer.com Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly, part # AKHD-550-35-EZ-K, is compatible with this axle-less system and will give you that 5 on 5 bolt pattern that you were asking about.
Keep in mind that your trailer weight capacity is limited by your lowest rated piece of equipment. Even if you were to upgrade your axle and tires to hold 3,500 lbs, if your trailer itself is only rated for 2,000 lbs you will not be able to safely carry more than 2,000 lbs.
Trailer tires are made with a more stiff sidewall to better handle the weight that they carry, plus they are not having to accommodate passengers. Since the 31x10.5 tires that you mentioned are made for passenger vehicles, I highly recommend going with trailer tires. If you let me know the current size of your wheel and tire combination I can find you a replacement that will perform well over the 3,500 lb capacity of the Timbren Axle-Less Suspension that I mentioned.
