Question:
Will this hitch fit a 2017 ram 2500 with a 5th wheel tow package that has a 6 foot bed... it says it fits a 8 foot bed but I have a 6 foot bed and know I will have to put a sidewinder on it as well.

The reason that the fit for # RP30918 states that it is for 8 foot bed models is because with a short bed a slider is recommended. Or the alternative is to use hitch # RP30918 with a Sidewinder and wedge kit # RP44FR like you said. So it will fit the factory prep package in the short bed as well.
For a Sidewinder if you can tell me the manufacturer and model number of the pin box itself I can make a recommendation if there is one available for that particular pin box. I have included a link to our help article on Sidewinders for you.
