Compatibility of the Thule Swing 4 Bike Rack on a 2015 Honda Fit

I own a thule Swing Bike Rack which I connect to both my Honda Van and small class C RV - both have a 2 inch receiver. I own a Honda Fit 2015 and am considering putting a hitch on it ... I think it requires a Class 1 hitch which is a smaller receiver that the 2 inch hitch. I believe theres a converter you can into the class 1 hitch to convert it to a 2 inch receiver. My question ... Are there any perceived problems that Ill encounter doing this to connect my Thurle Swing Bike Rack which holds 4 bikes. My Honda Fit is a tow car behind the RV and Id like to be able to bring our bikes with us. thank you,

I have a solution for you, but using your Thule Swing 4 Bike Rack, # TH9027XT, will not be your best option. Using an adapter like you mentioned won't allow you to use 4 bikes as the Class 1 hitch only will allow 2 bikes and an adapter will also reduce that capacity.

I recommend using a two bike rack like the Apex # TH9024XT. This rack will allow you to carry two bikes on either a 1-1/4 or 2 inch trailer hitch. No hitch adapter will be needed.

Being that your 2015 Honda Fit will use a Class I hitch like the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver, # 24920, you will only be able to carry no more than 2 bikes. All Class I hitches are limited to 2 bikes that can be carried on the car's trailer hitch. Also, using a hitch adapter, like # HTAD, to go from your 1-1/4 Class I hitch on a 2015 Honda Fit to your Thule Swing is that using the adapter will lower your hitches tongue weight by 50 percent. A tongue weight rated at 200 lbs will drop to 100 lbs using an adapter.
