Question:
We would like to get a roof top cargo carrier ideally at least 6 inches deep but we dont have roof rails at all on the roof of our 2007 fj cruiser. Do we have to get rails or what are our options ? The fj of course has the suicide doors so we wonder about securing a carrier. We would have it bolted in. But is that possible without rails?

For your 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, you will need a roof rack for a rooftop cargo basket. For this roof rack, I recommend the Rhino-Rack RVP Roof Rack for Fixed Mounting Points - Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRRVP25.
This will fit to the OEM fixed mounting points on your FJ like what you see in the Highlander in the attached video. This will mean the suicide doors will not be an issue.
Once you have this system, you can add a cargo basket or box. I've attached a video and added a link to all of your roof box options to assist. I recommend the Thule Motion XT Rooftop Cargo Box - 18 cu ft - Black Glossy # TH629806 for your vehicle.
For a roof basket I recommend the Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Rack Cargo Basket # Y07070 which is 6-1/2 inches tall and has a custom fairing to reduce wind noise and vibration. This system has an optional Extension for Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Rack Cargo Basket # Y07074 to add another 18 inches and a load bar to your cargo basket.
