Question:
We will be towing a 5 x 10 tear trailer total length with tongue is 14 with our 2017 Subaru Outback. The trailer is set up for electric brakes. I estimate the total length of the run from where we pull power in the Subaru to the trailer breaks to be 16-20 feet. The trailer has a dry weight of 1250 pounds and I estimate that fully loaded it will be about 1650 pounds. I will be fabricating the vehicle-side 7-way connector and want to use the Deka jacketed cable you sell. Do you think the 12 gauge wire will be sufficient for this application?

Expert Reply:
The brake output wire of the jacketed 7-way wiring part # DW04914-1 that you referenced does come with a heavy enough gauge of wire for your brake circuit. The 12 gauge brake output circuit would work well.
