Demco Hijacker AutoSlide 5th Wheel Hitch Placement in 2017 Ford F-350 Short Bed
Question:
Demo Hijacker 21k going into 2017 f350 with factory puck setup. The instruction picture shows the install kit for the puck system having the empty bolt hole of the bracket to the front which moves the hitch back. It puts it on the axle to 1 in on front of. If I go to the front most hole, it moves the hitch forward 3 inches which would put the king pin about 4 inches in front of axle. Which is best?

To install the Demco Hijacker 21K AutoSlide 5th Wheel Hitch # DM8550038 in your short-bed 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty that has the factory puck system you will want to position the hitch on its mounting wings so that the center of the jaws is over or 1-inch in front of the axle center line.
Since this is an auto-sliding hitch anyway you could actually use the more-forward position if the trailer's front profile was tapered and available clearance allowed it, but in general the king pin should sit just slightly forward of the rear axle when a slider hitch is in its forward towing position.
