Question:
I purchased either the 570 or 580 side load and got the wrong product. I want to install the holders onto the factory bars on my excursion and load from the rear. I now think the 581 is the right product and yalls price is best. Would you please confirm this is the right product? Thanks,

For rear loading a kayak, Rhino-Rack has two model carriers that can work on your 2001 Ford Excursion.
If you are using standard crossbars with no T-channel, then the Rhino-Rack Nautic Roof Kayak Carrier, # RR571, is the way to go. This carrier can mount to round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars. The felt padding on the carrier pads allows the kayak to slide easily when loading.
If you have a set of crossbars that use the bar or T-slot channel to mount the carrier, then I recommend the Rhino-Rack Nautic 581 Rear Loading Kayak Carrier, # RR581. This carrier uses the same felt pad design as the # RR571 to allow the kayak to easily be loaded.
Both sets of carriers will come with bow and stern tie-down straps.
