Recommended Blue Ox Sway Pro System For 7700 lb GVWR Toy Hauler

Question:

Hello, my Toy Hauler trailer has a 26 inch coupler height when level. The Trailer has a GVWR of 7700 pounds Typically I will tow around 6000 pounds total gross trailer weight. The frame is 8 inch tall aluminum full box rectangular. The trailer will always be loaded so the tongue weight does not exceed 7700 pounds my hitch weight rating. But typically the tongue weight could be anywhere from 500-800 pounds depending on the cargo loaded and where its located. My vehicle hitch pin hole is located 15 inches on center from the ground. 2 inch receiver opening. The trailer coupler is 26 inches from the ground when it is level. Frame is 8 inch by 2 inch full box aluminum. What Blue Ox Sway Pro would you recommend? Do I need an 11-12 inch rise shank? Would 750 or 1000 pound bars be recommended? Would the 8 inch frame be obstructive? I have clearance at the 29 inch bracket recommendation on the frame. I also will need an appropriate 2-5/16inch ball.

Total tongue weight is what you determine a weight distribution based on. This includes the loaded tongue weight of the trailer that is typically 10-15 percent of the GVWR as well as any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle.

Based on the information you gave, the best Blue Ox Sway Pro system for your application is the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Clamp On - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # BXW1006. This will give you the adjustability you need for your height as well as give you the weight range you need to function properly.

You will need a hitch ball compatible with this system. For a 2-5/16 inch ball, I recommend # 19286 and for a 2 inch ball # A-90.
