Are Relays Needed to Install Hopkins Trailer Connector Socket HM40975 on 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

I already have a Curt Trailer Hitch C13126 installed on my 2014 Nissan Pathfinder. I need to install a Pollak 7 and 4 pole Trailer Hitch Connector Socket HM 40975. I already have a tow button on the panel and the two connectors hanging behind the back bumper. All I want to know is if I install the factory pigtail and connect it to HM 40975 will it work or do I also have to add the relays? You have on one video that shows just connect the factory pigtail and HM 40975 and it will work. Then you have another video that shows the same process, but it shows they are adding the relays. Please advise me on the right process. Thanks for your time.

Helpful Expert Reply:

The Hopkins 7-and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket # HM40975 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2014 Nissan Pathfinder and will provide both a 4-Way and 7-Way connector at the rear of your vehicle. Since you have the factory pigtail and the needed two connectors hanging behind the rear bumper, you will not need to install additional relays for the 7 and 4-Way connectors to be fully functional.

The relays on the Pathfinder will only be needed if you are going from a factory 4-Way to a 7-Way or if you did not have the factory tow package on the vehicle.

I have attached the installation video on your vehicle that you can use for reference.
