Camco Gen-Turi RV Generator Exhaust System Operation In Heavy Rain

Question:

Im looking into getting a Camco Gen-turi for my RV. The installation looks straightforward. I do have a question regarding rain. What would happen in a medium/heavy rain with the generator off? Could water get into the generator exhaust system? If the generator is running in the rain, Im assuming the exhaust gas will keep the rain out of the exhaust system. Just wondering. Thanks!

The Camco Gen-Turi RV Generator Exhaust System # CAM44461 is a very basic exhaust extension, so your question about rain is valid. I reached out to the manufacturer and they said that there isn't an issue with any large amounts of water getting into your generator exhaust. The engineer stated that they have holes where the bolts go through and water will drain out there. They said if it were an issue, they would have added an additional part like a chimney cap, but it has not been needed. It will not be a concern whether the generator is being run or not.
