Does SportRack Pop-Up Camper Roof Rack SR1020 Require Drilling for Installation
Question:
Hi. I have a palamino colt tent trailer, would the sportrack SR1020 work on this tent trailer? Would I have to actually bolt through the roof?

Expert Reply:
Roof racks made for the tops of pop-up trailers and in-bed campers do typically require drilling for installation. The SportRack # SR1020 rack is intended for camper tops that do not have rounded or curved edges on the roof. The mounting brackets require a 90-degree mounting point and the camper width cannot exceed 85-1/2-inches. Based on my research your Palomino has straight roof sides that will be compatible. The kit includes all required parts. Each crossbar has three different notches that allow you to adjust the length to 80 inches, 83 inches or 86 inches.
The rack itself has a 200-lb weight capacity but it is a good idea to contact the trailer maker with your camper's VIN to confirm the weight rating of the camper roof, which could be less than the rack capacity.
