Selecting Replacement Free-Backing Hydraulic Brakes for Tandem 6K Trailer

Dexter free backing hydraulic breaks on a 6000# axle, how do i tell left from right, or front/rear?

Expert Reply:

Trailer brakes are left- and right-hand specific but not front and back. So for a tandem 6K axle setup you'll use two left-hand and two right-hand 12 x 2-inch free-backing hydraulics brake assemblies.

For a high value-for-the-dollar option I like the AxleTek brake pair # AKFBBRK-7-D. All choices are shown on the linked page.

We label our brakes left and right, but you can always use the rule that the shorter of the two brake pads on the assembly should face forward.
