What is the Difference Between Rhino Rack Nautic and Nautic 581?
Question:
I have a 2017 Subaru Outback Limited with factory crossbars. I am buying a Jackson Cruise Angler 12. # 1- I do not see the difference between the 571 and 581 that would cause the price difference, or advantage of one over the other. I will probably load from the side with the pole assembly I bought from you a few days ago. # 2- is it possible for me to put a spacer between the crossbar and the mounts to clear the antenna? I considered the J-Racks, really don't want to expose kayak to that much side wind if I can avoid it. Thank you in advance for you taking time for this

The difference between the two kayak carriers are the type of crossbars they mount on. The Rhino Rack Nautic # RR571 is compatible with round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars by clamping on. The Rhino Rack Nautic 581 # RR581 is compatible with crossbars that have a bar or T-slot channel. I've added links to video installs of each product so you can see the difference.
As for a spacer, it would depend on how tall your crossbars are, and though you may be able to do it, I would not recommend using the carrier in a way that it was not designed due to potential stability issues. If you do decide to go with a J-style carrier, Rhino Rack makes our most popular version, # S510. I've added a link to a video review of the J-style carrier for you to take a look at as well.
