When you are towing a trailer you want the trailer to be as level as possible behind your F-150. I have attached a helpful article that explains how you can measure to find the best ball mount.
You just need a tape measure to do this. Park the truck on level ground and then measure form the ground to the top of the receiver opening. Then measure the distance from the bottom of the trailer coupler to the ground. If the hitch height is greater you will need a ball mount with a drop. If the trailer height is greater you will need a ball mount with a rise. We have several fixed ball mounts that have both a rise and a drop.
We also have an adjustable ball mount that gives you the ability to tow different height trailers.
For an adjustable ball mount I recommend the Convert-a-Ball # TK5007. This fits 2 inch receiver openings and has up to a 10 inch drop and up to an 9 inch rise. This ball mount is rated for 5,000 lbs and uses a hitch ball with a 1 inch shank. I also attached a link to the ball mounts we offer.
The hitch ball you choose depends on the trailer coupler. for a 2 inch hitch ball that will work with the Convert-a-Ball coupler I recommend part # 63845. If you need a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball I recommend part # 19260.
