Brake Controller and Wiring Recommendation for 1999 Allegro Bay RV

I need to install a brake controller and replace the round 4 pin connector with a 7 pin for electric brakes on my 1999 allegro bay with f53 chassis is there a harness already wired under the dash or do i need to run wires to the rear of the coach.

We have a solution for you, but there isn't a harness that allows you to just plug in a 7-way and brake controller. The kit you'll need is the part # ETBC7 and some additional wire with part # 10-2-1 to convert your 4-way to a 7-way and install the controller.

You'll need to cut the 4-way off of the ETBC7 adapter as well as your round 4-way and connect those wires together by function. The ETBC7 wiring is white for ground, yellow for left turn/stop, green for right turn/stop, and brown for taillight. You may need a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to determine the functions of the RV wiring.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This will be the last brake controller you buy. It can easily be transferred to future vehicles as well.
