Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for a 2017 Nissan Titan XD Pulling 11K RV With Reese Revolution Pin Box

Question:

The Fifth wheel has a Reese Revolution i.e. slider hitch. My Nissan Titan XD has a gooseneck in the bed, with a 3 puck system. How do we mate the tow for SAFE towing? The RV is 11,000 lbs.

If your RV has the Reese Revolution pin box that is the first step in the proper way to tow an RV with your 2017 Nissan Titan XD.

For the 11,000 lbs of your RV I recommend going with the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Nissan Titan XD Towing Prep Package # C16520-16026. This is confirmed to fit the 3 puck system in your Titan XD and is rated for 16,000 lbs towing so you will have no problems at all.

Since you are needing to use the Revolution you will also need the Sidewinder Wedge for Curt A16 and A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # C16992 which will ensure that the Revolution works correctly.

If your Titan XD does not come with a 7-Way installed in the bed then I also recommend installing the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector # C56000 to make connecting and disconnecting your trailer much quicker and easier.

I have a 2018 Titan XD 4x4, what role does the payload weight of the truck play in choosing a fifth wheel? I’m looking at campers in the 9-10 thousand pound range.

The payload rating of your truck does play into your towing capacity to some degree based on the pin weight of your trailer. The payload weight is spread out over the truck bed where the 5th wheel rails are mounted to the frame directly so are more secure and can handle more capacity than the bed itself. Unfortunately manufacturers don't test for the 5th Wheel Hitch weight capacities. Because 5th wheel trailers have about a 25% pin weight, for that heavy a camper you would be looking at about 2,500 lbs. I have linked the page to 5th wheel hitches for your vehicle. Based on the payload capacities listed for your truck, you should have no issues with a trailer of that size, but I wouldn't recommend going much larger.
