Question:
Hi, my trailerbike rack has a 13 pin connection. Should I use the same parts and diagram you suggested for the 7 pin? I could also get an adapter that brings the 13 pin to a 7 pin if you think that would be easier for 4-way flat Second question: how weatherproof is the vehicle to vehicle taillight converter? I seems like that part will live outside the car as part of the trailerbike rack.

For your European lighting connection on your bike rack, I recommend you use a few adapters for the easiest connection. If you can get a 13 pin to 7 pin European connector (which we don't carry) then you can use the Trailer Connector Adapter for Land Rover - 7-Way, Round Pin, European Style to 4-Way Flat # 118710 and you wouldn't need to do any splicing.
If not, then you will need to divide out the functions to convert to your US 4-way flat. The Vehicle to Vehicle Tail Light Converter # 118158 is a great way to get the functions from isolation to combined features to make them compatible. The converter isn't ideal to have exposed to the elements so I recommend using a junction box like # PK52249 to protect it from the elements if it is to be mounted externally.
