7-Way Trailer Wiring Connector to Reach 6 Feet from Junction Box to Vehicle
Question:
Hi, Id like to connect this coiled cable to my junction box which is about 3.5foot from the end of my trailer hitch. That would leave 2.5foot to go to my vehicle. That should be plenty but Im concerned about the force needed to uncoil this cable to its full length. Should I go with something longer or does this easily uncoil? I could also use regular cable and route the wiring through my square tongue tube coming out under the hitch and move the junction box as needed. I didnt know if this was safe for the cable. Plus a coiled cable would allow different tow vehicles. Thank you

Stretching the 7-Way Trailer Connector # WG54006-043 to 6 feet isn't the best option for you. It'll reach 6 feet but the coils are fairly tight. I extended it easily to about 4 feet but beyond that it wanted to fight me. It'll loosen up over time of course but I think a longer cable would be better for you.
The 12 foot, part # WG54006-046, is a better choice, but then it'll hang lower to the ground.
