What is the Torque Rating for the Turret Bolts on My 2007 5th Airborne Sidewinder?

I have a 2007 Fifth Airborne hitch with the sidewinder by Fabex on my 28 ft. Jazz. This model only has 3 turret bolts and they have backed out even with the lock washers. I have replaced three in the last ten years because I found them broken. -Does the 45 ft-lb. torque mentioned for the new four bolt system apply on this model also? -Do the lock washers need to replaced over time? -Do flat washers need to be in front of the lock washers on the turret bolts? I dont have any. The Locktite idea sounds good unless I have to replace a broken bolt but Ill consider it. Thanks for your website and any help you can give me, Mike

I was able to track down a copy of the instructions for your 2007 5th Airborne Sidewinder with the 3 turret bolts. The 3 bolts need to be torqued at 80 ft./lb. per the instructions. Keep in mind that you are not torquing the bolts as one would when clamping something together, but torquing to retain the 2 pieces. My contact at Reese explained that the lock washers and bolts may need to be replaced over time and they recommend checking the torque after each use. He said that Reese also recommends using Loctite Threadlocker, # LT37420 on the 3 bolts even though this is not mentioned in the instructions. (See diagram attached.) Flat washers in front of the lock washers are not necessary.
