Method to Lift 17-Foot Travel Trailer with Torflex #10 Axle to Increase Ground Clearance

Hi, I recently purchased a 17foot Sun Valley travel trailer and it rides too close to the ground. It drags when going up curbs and is difficult to park on any kind of a slope. The axle is a Dexter LN 111383599 #10H torflex axle. After reading about the K71-707-01 lift kit for #10 Dexter axles Ive come to learn that I do in fact have the high profile bracket and this lift kit will not work. Im looking for a way to add at least 3inch to the height of the trailer. Currently, the guard on the back of the trailer that protects the sewage tank is only 6inch off the ground. Any suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Im hoping youve come across this before and have a solution. Thank you for having very well written articles, Ive learned so much from reading the answers you have provided. I have attached a picture of the axles current setup showing the high profile bracket. Thanks for taking your time to read my question.

Thank you for your photo and for clearly explaining your concern with your trailer's low ground clearance. You are correct that none of the Torlfex lift kits like # K71-707-01 will work for you since you have the 3-inch high-profile brackets.

In your case the best way to give your travel trailer additional ground clearance is to replace the Torflex axle with a Timbren axle-less rubber suspension that has lift spindles. Kit # ASR3500S06 is rated for 3500-lbs, the same as your # 10 axle, and it has spindles that provide 4-inches of lift. This kit bolts or welds directly to your trailer frame and gives you an independent suspension on both sides of the trailer.

This kit uses hubs # 84545UC1-EZ or # 84656UC3-EZ and includes brake flanges to allow mounting electric drum brakes like # AKEBRK-35-SA, which are a pair of self-adjusting brakes for a 3500-lb axle.
