Class V, 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch and 41 Inch Extension for 2007 Ford F-350 with 18 Inch Spare

Question:

Hi- I have a 2007 F350 Ford- XLT model and need to extend my hitch at least 41. I cannot find any 2inch hitch extensions that long. My question is this- if Install the Class V 2 1/2inch Curt 15810 hitch....is there room for my spare tire? I have 18inch tires - the existing hitch has a bend or allowance for the spare tire. Thanks in advance

Since the spare tire on your 2007 Ford F-350 XLT is an 18 inch it will not be a problem for Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - 2-1/2" Item # C15810. The hitch works with spares that are 20 inches and smaller. Anything larger than 20 inches though and the spare would not fit back into place. I have linked a video showing an example installation of this hitch for you.

For an extension to get out to 41 inches you can use # RP45018. With this extension at the 41 inch length it is rated for 5,000 pound gross trailer weight or up to 7,500 pounds when used with weight distribution.

There is another option though. You could install TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - 2-1/2" and 2" Item # TLF1002-30 and then use SuperTruss extension # TLE1542. With this set it the ratings would be 6,000 pounds or if using weight distribution it would be 12,000 pounds.
