Power Modules Keep Failing When Pulling a Trailer

Help. I am on my 3rd power module . The 1st one laster 1 year and was replaced. the 2nd lasted 3 weeks and was replaced . All the installations were done by a dealer. This last one lasted 3 weeks. i used it twice and today as I was driving down the hwy with no trailer my vehicle gave a warning that the left turn signel light was out. This is the same problem as before. Could you please help . I have had the trailer checked 3 times and all is ok Thanks Wayne

If you have had all of the wiring check on your trailer and your tow vehicle and there are no shorts then you are most likely overloading the wiring harness, like part # 119147KIT, itself by your trailer drawing too much power.

What you will want to do is see how much power your connector on your tow vehicle is rated for and then use a 7-Function Digital Multimeter # PT89ZR to see how much your trailer is actually drawing. You will want to ground one of the poles and then connect the other one to the trailer wiring while you are applying an alternate 12V power source like the battery from your vehicle. Make sure that your trailer isn't drawing too much power. If it is then you either have a short or you will need to remove some of the lights on your trailer.
