Expert Reply:

That is correct, the Yakima DoubleDown 4 Bike Rack # Y02424 is not recommended for use on the back of an RV, motor home or trailer. However, the Yakima LongHaul 4 Bike Rack, # Y02476 is safe to use on the back of an RV.

There is significantly more movement and bouncing at the back of an RV, similar to riding in the back of a school bus. Most bike racks are designed to be used on the back of cars, and therefore, are not designed or tested for use on the back of an RV. Using a bike rack that is not RV rated could cause the rack to fail and your bikes to be lost or damaged.

If you are going to be carrying any womens or alternative-framed bikes, you will need to get some Bike Adapter Bars # Y02531.
