Can an Under Bed Gooseneck Hitch Be Installed with 5th Wheel Rails Also In Place?

Question:

Can I install the Gooseneck hitch #9464-35 if I already have 5th-Wheel rails in the bed. I bought the 5th-Wheel hitch from Etrailer years ago and had to install it with a special mounting kit. I have a 2005 Diesel Dodge Ram 3500, SRW, 8 foot bed, 4 wheel drive. Will have have to remove the rails to install the Gooseneck? Thank you for your help.

Expert Reply:

The Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with Custom Installation Kit - 30,000 lbs # 9464-35 installs in the same location on your frame as the 5th wheel rail brackets, so the two cannot be installed at the same time. This gooseneck is a confirmed fit for your 2005 Ram 3500, so if you want to remove the rails, this gooseneck will work well.

Another option for you is to use the gooseneck ball adapter that connects to the current rails like the Reese Above-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch - 25,000 lbs # RP58079. I've attached a video to assist with how this attaches and functions.
