Using a Stabilizer Strap with a 2017 Mini Clubman 2 Door Hatch
Question:
I recently purchased both the Curt 2 bike rack C-18029 and the matching 2017 Mini Clubman hitch / receiver. Since this model Mini has a 2 door hatch where would I place the strap? Ive tried attaching it to the bear claw latch and feeding upwards above the glass and out to the bike rack. The problem is that this puts a lot of pressure on the glass. Any suggestions?

Curt does require use of a stabilization strap for their Class I Hitches. Normally, you'd use a Stabilizing Strap like part # 18050 but like many hatchback vehicles, you're running into a simple problem that is easy to fix.
For this, you'll want to purchase part # Y02612 , a set of Yakima Glass Hatch adapters. This part will give you an alternate location to hook the stabilizing strap to that will evenly apply pressure to the padded security bar, removing the need to mount the support strap directly to the glass. I reached out to Curt and they verified that as long as you are using some kind of stabilization device, it meets their warranty requirements.
If you haven't yet, you'll want to add a cable lock like Curt's 6-foot lock, part # C23666 to improve the security of your ride.
A less stretchy option for stabilizing your wheel could be the Saris Bike Wheel Straps, part # SA3033, which will let you use the Curt rack's included mounting point to further stabilize your wheels while you're driving.
