Recommended Hitch for 2017 Mazda CX-5 GT for use With Bike Rack
Question:
Hi, I own a 2017 Mazda CX-5 GT. I want to install a trailer hitch that would be used for a bike rack only. Can you recommend a hitch that would be appropriate. Thanks

The hitch I highly recommend for your 2017 Mazda CX-5 GT to use with a bike rack is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame # 76138. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver, which is going to allow you many more options in terms of the type of bike rack you can use. For example, as of today (September 2017) there are 188 bike racks which are Class III compatible, 111 which are Class II and just 67 which are Class I. There are also 190 racks which fit a 2" receiver while only 109 fit a 1-1/4" receiver.
If you are looking for a rack, it's hard to go wrong with the Kuat NV 2.0 # NV22G. This is one of the most popular racks we carry as it has a weight capacity of 60 lbs per bike to carry the heavier bikes that are becoming common; it also has ratcheting hooks that grip your bikes by the front wheels and straps that secure to the rear wheels so there is no contact between your bike's frame and the rack.
The NV 2.0 has a foot lever that will allow you to tilt the rack down - even with the bikes loaded! - for rear cargo access as well as fold the rack up for storage. It installs in your hitch with a knob system that you need only twist to tighten, and comes with a hitch lock and cable lock for the rack and your bikes, keeping your investments secure.
I've added links to video reviews of these products for you to take a look at, as well as a link to our page with each of our racks on it.
