Bumper Clearance Dimension for Curt Hitch C13206 on 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon

Question:

Hi folks, Our Subaru dealer installed our new Curt 13206 trailer hitch on our 2017 Outback. The reciever seems to be further back under the bumper than I was expecting from the photos online. Can you tell me the distance so I can double check the installation. Thanks. Once I get this all resolved Ill submit feedback on your site. Cheers,

When we installed the Curt hitch # C13206 on a 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon we found that from the center of our hitch pin hole to the outer most edge of our bumper was right at 2-1/4 inch.

Question:

Hi Jameson, Hmmm, the edge of the trailer hitch is 4.5 inches forward from the back edge of the bumper. Can you confirm this isn't a problem because we can use a longer ball hitch to reach out beyond the bumper? It's a 2Inch receiver, with the center of the hitch pin being 7 inches under the bumper. Where should the ball typically be behind the bumper? I'm starting to worry.

I attached a picture from the underside of a 2017 Subaru Outback that shows how the hitch opening should sit relative to the bumper of the vehicle.

I can't see how the dealer would have installed it differently since it uses factory holes but I'd compare what yours looks like to the picture.
