Can the Plastic Cover on the Master Lock Tuff Links Locking Chain # 8291DPS Be Smashed and Opened

Hello, This lock looks like it will fit my needs rather well but I just had a question about the plastic locking mechanism versus a padlock. Basically, I am wondering if it is theoretically possible to beat this lock by smacking the plastic lock thing with a hammer. Would this open the lock if this part somehow got busted up by a thief? Thank you for any input you can provide.

The Master Lock Tuff Links Locking Chain, part # 8291DPS has a hardened steel lock with a plastic covering to protect the surface of the equipment you will be locking up. It is like having a hardened steel padlock covered with a plastic shield. Even If you are able to smash the plastic cover around the lock, it would still keep the chain locked because the hardened steel would not be damaged from the hammer blows.

Since you ask if it is theoretically possible to beat this lock by busting it with a hammer, like any locking device it could possibly be busted up, but the time and effort to do so would normally be enough to deter the average thief from trying to break the lock to steal your items.

I would highly recommend this Master Lock locking chain. I am including a link to a video review of the Master Lock.
