Troubleshooting No Power to 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness # 118496, 2010 Toyota Tacoma

Question:

The install of this harness went very well. Did everything the directions said, but when I finished, no power to any of the prongs in the receptacle. the grounding point is very clean, not sure what else to try. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

In order to determine if there is something wrong inside the converter box of T-One Connector, # 118496, you will need a circuit tester if you do not already have one, # 3808. With everything installed according to the instructions, linked for reference, have someone sit in the cab to operate the brakes, lights, and turn signals while you test the wires on the harness.

First test the wires that go into the converter from the tail lights. If you do not get a signal then make sure the connectors are in the correct location (yellow wire on driver side, green on passenger side). If they are in the correct location and your vehicles lights are working fine, test the wire directly behind the connector but before the smaller black boxes.

If no signal gets through there then there is a problem with the connectors and the harness will need to be replaced. If there is a signal there but not after the smaller box then the harness will need to be replaced.

If all the signals are good before going into the large converter box but you get the wrong signals or no signals coming out, then the converter is bad and the unit will need to be replaced.
