Question:
What is the width and height of the oval-shaped face-plate? I understand the second hole center is 2 7/8 inch from back of face-plate. Is that correct? My concern is that I tried a plastic one with the hole-center 3.5 inch back, while my hole-center is only 2.5 inch from the front of the hitch. The black spacers are made with what material, and how thick is each? Id also like to know if the spacers are very or just somewhat compressible.

The Lincoln MKX Trailer Hitch Receiver Cover # LIJHC-13 that you referenced has a face plate that is 6 inches wide and 3-1/4 inches tall. The measurement of 2-7/8 inches from the back of the face plate to the furthest hole is correct.
The 3 gaskets that come with it vary in size with one being 6.5 mm, another being 12.5 mm, and the third one being 17 mm. They can compress a little bit but not a whole lot as they are thick foam and meant to help stabilize the hitch cover.
